About Romy Nelson, MEd, NDTR, CPT, NBC-HWC
Romy is a professional speaker and consultant, specializing in the design and development of corporate employee well-being programs. Her background is in wellness program design and implementation, including programs that include individual and group nutrition and fitness counseling, coaching and health education. She speaks professionally at conferences and seminars on a variety of health and well-being topics.
Romy battled her weight as a young teen and college student. In her mid-20s, she learned how to eat to be lean and healthy, and participated in eight amateur fitness/figure competitions between 1996 and 2005. She is a three-time Ms. Fitness Arizona. She became fascinated with the science of nutrition, and went back to school to pursue a Dietetics credential.
Romy holds a Master’s Degree in Education, as well as an AAS Degree in Dietetic Technology. She is a NDTR (Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered), National Board-Certified Health and Well-being Coach (NBC-HWC), and certified fitness trainer (ASCM and NASM). She was Arizona Dietetic Technician, Registered of the Year in 2009. She serves as adjunct nutrition faculty at Arizona community colleges.
